Shell UK ties up with PayPal for mobile payments at pumps
Oil and gas company Shell has partnered with PayPal to offer a mobile payment solution at fuel pumps in the UK.
The new service will enable customers to pay for their fuel using the Shell Motorist App or the PayPal App in their mobile phones at most of Shell’s 1,000 service stations.
The service will require customers to select the corresponding pump that they have driven in, on the app, which will then be authenticated by the app allowing the consumers to fill up and go.
The solution will be available on Android and iOS app stores during the end of 2015.
Shell UK Retail Marketing Manager Michael Hominick said: “We’ve listened to our customers and know they will benefit from this innovation.
“They will now have the flexibility and convenience of paying without having to leave their car. Those who want to go in store and pay or purchase other items will still be able to, with the benefit of reduced queues.”
