JetBlue to ditch card partnership with AmEx
JetBlue Airways has reportedly decided to end its co-branded credit cards partnership with American Express that was inked in 2005.
A news report in Bloomberg has observed that the airline has reached a new credit-card agreement with Barclays and MasterCard, citing people with knowledge of the matter.
According to Bloomberg, the termination of the deal with AmEX and forming a new agreement with other firms run parallel with JetBlue’s moves to alter its fare structure, including adding a bag-check fee for fliers buying the cheapest tickets.
The ending of the JetBlue contract following the termination of AmEx’s exclusive card partnership with Costco will affect the company with the value of its shares tumbling down in the stock market.
