Visa expands digital payment service to UAE
Visa, a payments technology firm, has expanded its digital payment service, Visa Checkout, to UAE-based online merchants.
With this service, UAE cardholders can now make quick and easy online purchases from merchants that offer Visa Checkout in the US, Canada and Australia.
In addition, Visa cardholders can use this service in the UAE to purchase from international stores such as Tory Burch, Orbitz and Lululemon.
The new service, which was planned to be rolled out in UAE by summer this year, will eliminate the hassle of entering information such as name, card number, and address each time a customer makes a transaction.
According to the company, the new service will make the checkout process faster and more convenient as cardholders are required to enter their card information only once.
Visa aims to work with UAE businesses to expand its Visa Checkout network to local merchant websites later this year.
Visa Checkout allows customers to sign up with Visa credit and debit cards, as well as other branded cards to make purchases.
Users can store their shipping and payment information in a secure account and are not required to re-enter the information each time they shop online at sites that provide the Visa Checkout facility. Customers have to log into their account, enter their username and password, and click the Visa Checkout button as a payment option to complete the purchase.
Visa MENA general manager UAE and global accounts lead Marcello Baricordi said: “We believe consumers in this market will greatly appreciate the ease and simplicity of the service, which is accessible on all types of devices and allows for secure online purchase fulfilment anytime, anywhere.
“To start, we are working with local banks to further personalize the user experience, and drive consumer enrolment for the service.”
