Chinese firm hints at Uber tie-up
Chinese private car hire app Yidao Yongche has hinted at a possible tie-up with US taxi hailing company Uber.
On Sunday, the Chinese company posted a picture of its logo above a heart and Uber’s logo to its official Weibo microblog site (A Chinese social media platform). Below this was the date 2015.5.21 .
Above the picture were Chinese characters saying “it’s best to be together.”
While Uber has enjoyed huge growth since its launch in 2009, the company has faced numerous regulatory struggles in a number of markets.
A partnership with domestic company Yongche may be designed to ease any regulatory tensions that exist in China.
Any potential announcement would not be the first time Uber has had dealings with a Chinese company, as in December it was revealed it had received a significant investment from Chinese search engine giant Baidu .
