Airtel Money rolls out money transfer service in Malawi
Airtel Money, the mobile commerce subsidiary of Bharti Airtel, has launched a cross-border money transfer service in Malawi.
The service will allow Airtel Money customers in the country to transfer funds, facilitate remittances and conduct regional trade via Airtel Money’s distribution network.
Airtel’s chief commercial officer Charles Kamoto said that the cross border money transfer service will provide customers convenience instantly.
“As a company, we are committed to deepening financial inclusion, creating cashless ecosystems and regional integration in Africa and beyond,” added Kamoto.
He added that the Reserve Bank of Malawi has provided support for this initiative and commitment towards ensuring the long term success of the service.
Airtel Money currently has over 36 million customer wallets in 17 countries and creates cashless payments ecosystems, deepen financial inclusion and reduce transaction costs across Africa.
