Starbucks, Walmart.com and Walgreens to add Visa Checkout as payment option

ayments giant Visa has announced that a number of prominent merchants, including Starbucks and Walgreens Boots, would now be accepting payments through Visa Checkout.
Other merchants that are set to support Visa Checkout include the NFL Shop, the Home Shopping Network and Match. The payments giant also revealed that Walmart.com will also begin supporting Visa Checkout this year.
Visa senior vice president of digital solutions Sam Shrauger said: “We are seeing tremendous Visa Checkout growth as we enter 2016 and are greatly encouraged by the enthusiastic response from consumers and merchants alike. By re-engineering the Visa card for the digital world, we’re delivering a better way to pay through connected and mobile devices.”
Ryan Records, vice president of Starbucks Global Card, Commerce & Payment, said: “Delivering a seamless payment experience for our customers is a priority for us. Integrating Visa Checkout as a way to reload your Starbucks card in our world-class digital platforms is a great way to provide our customers with the reload options that are most convenient and relevant to them.”
The service, first launched in the US, Canada and Australia in 2014, allows users to sign in with a single username and password to complete a payment process, without needing to leave a merchant’s website or app.
Since its launch, over 10 million consumer accounts and 600 financial institutions in 16 countries have signed up to use Visa Checkout.
