Wirecard, O2 to provide mPOS solution to Czech retailers
Wirecard has teamed up with telecommunication provider O2 to offer a unified PoS solution to all retailers in the Czech Republic.
O2 will offer its merchants a new offering, dubbed eKasa, which is a fully online, tablet based fiscal till system together with credit card payment transaction services.
Under the terms of the agreement, Wirecard will serve as the acquirer that processes all payment transactions. Additionally, it will act as the technical service provider, which will allow O2 to use Wirecard’s mPOS Software Developing Kit (SDK).
Subsequently, O2 will provide its customers with eKasa solution that includes a card reader, which caters merchants with secure chip and PIN mobile card acceptance.
“This practical alternative to fixed till systems is suitable for merchants, companies and self-employed people from all industries who are now affected by this new government directive,” Wirecard said in a statement.
O2 director of SMB segment and indirect sales Lubos Lukasik said: “It’s a pleasure to work with Wirecard on this project to really draw an advantage for retailers out of this situation. For us, Wirecard is a reliable partner that quickly responds to innovations.”
Wirecard managing director Roland Toch said: “We are delighted to work with O2 on this large volume project.
“The new combination that includes services from both parties enables retailers to benefit from powerful payment management features as they can simply repurpose a tablet to a new checkout device. That optimizes the processes and reduces costs at the same time.”
In 2016, a new till system law has been implemented in the Czech Republic that mandates retailers to conclude payment transactions online. After that, payment details are forwarded to the national tax office where they are reviewed in order to avoid tax fraud.
