WorldRemit lands in Singapore
WorldRemit has further expanded its presence in Asia by launching digital money transfers from Singapore.
The launch will enable customers in Singapore to transfer money to over 140 countries using the WorldRemit app or website.
Commenting on the launch, WorldRemit founder and CEO Ismail Ahmed said: “We are delighted to be launching our service in a cosmopolitan country like Singapore, which has taken such a progressive approach to innovation in financial services. We look forward to joining the ever-growing fintech community in Singapore, and helping more people to access our safe, fast, and low cost money transfer service.”
The move comes close on the heels of the launch of the service in Japan in March this year.
“The company has seen remarkable growth across APAC, which now accounts for almost 25% of all transactions sent by WorldRemit globally. This is a reflection of the increasing demand for mobile-first and online money transfer services in the region,” the company said in its press statement.
Last month, WorldRemit added Google’s digital wallet platform Android Pay as payment option to offer mobile-to-mobile remittance transfers to the world’s unbanked.
