Urban Airship harnesses Google Pay for real-time tickets

Announced on the main stage at Google I/O 2018, Urban Airship spoke about its collaboration with Google Pay to create streamlined and engaging ticketing and boarding pass experiences for consumers.

The combination of Google Pay’s new ticket support and the Urban Airship digital customer engagement platform now make it simple for any business to provide more efficient user experiences, that maximise convenience while delivering customers valuable, real-time information.

Unlocking new levels of convenience, the mobile wallet tickets provide customers with real-time and personalised updates, such as changes to departure times or gate changes.

Brett Caine, CEO and president of Urban Airship, stated: “We help businesses reinvent the customer experience by delivering the right information at the right time on any digital channel, and mobile wallets fill an increasingly critical role in that vision.

“Google Pay’s new support for tickets and boarding passes means customers will always have up-to-date information when they need it most – on the go. Urban Airship has the only platform proven to operate at the scale necessary to ensure that this information is delivered quickly, accurately and reliably to hundreds of millions of people.”

Pali Bhat, VP of payments products at Google, commented: “Our goal at Google Pay is to make transactions as seamless and functional as possible for consumers. Digitising users’ wallets and creating rich experiences that leverage Google’s great assets brings us one step closer to that goal.”

Doug Kruse, CTO and co-founder of TicketNetwork, added: “Mobile wallet tickets not only offer greater convenience for attendees and lower ticket distribution costs, they offer a path for post-event re-engagement as we can update tickets with other events they may be interested in attending with an easy path to purchase. Google brings scale and ubiquity to this global proposition, which is truly exciting.”

Adaptive link technology makes it easy to create and distribute personalised tickets and boarding passes by using a single link to connect to the customer’s device and automatically display a pass based on the user’s location.
