Harris + Hoole (H+H), a UK-based coffee chain, has upgraded its mobile payment application, which enables customers to pay without the need to touch, tap or scan at the counter.

The service is designed to simplify the check-out system. Using this latest service, customers can simply check-in on their phone when they enter the store. Thier order will be confirmed with the barista, whose till will be updated with the customer’s name and photo.

Harris+Hoole digital experience director Danielle Anderson said the mobile payment removes the cold formality of an anonymous transaction and better reflects the kind of friendly exchange the customer would expect from their local coffee shop.

"For the first time anywhere in the UK, a customer can walk into any H+H shop, order their usual from a barista who knows their name and how they like their coffee, and pay – all from just one tap on their mobile," added Anderson.

H+H is planning to launch the new point-of-sale systems powered by its customer relationship management technology for the new app across select 36 outlets.

"We don’t do tech for tech’s sake, we are always working towards making the experience of drinking coffee magical and anything we can do to enhance that is good for our customers," explained Anderson.

The H+H app is available for download through iTunes App Store and Google Play Store for Apple iOS and Android devices, respectively.
