Western Union signs deal to expand global money transfer services in Mexico

Western Union has signed a deal with Farmacias Guadalajara to launch Western Union global money-transfer services at over 1,100 drugstore and retail sites across Mexico.

Western Union has signed a deal with Farmacias Guadalajara to launch Western Union global money-transfer services at over 1,100 drugstore and retail sites across Mexico.

According to the World Bank, Mexico ranks fourth on the list of top worldwide recipients of remittances for 2013, receiving about $22bn annually. The latest deal provides consumers in the country with more options to receive global money transfers.

Western Union Mexico vice president and general manager, Luis Felipe Rodriguez Vega, said, "This launch is another example of our commitment to growing our Agent network in Mexico — one of the top remittance receiving countries in the world."

Farmacias Guadalajara’s retail locations are open seven days a week, with remittances services offered from 8am to 10pm local time.
