Customers of Italy’s largest power company will now be able to pay their bills online via EBA Clearing’s MyBank service, supported by Italian bank UniCredit.
EBA Clearing’s e-authorisation solution MyBank will enable Enel households to pay their bills through internet and mobile banking supported by Sepa Credit Transfer.
Facilitated by Italian banking giant UniCredit, Enel’s connection with MyBank marks the service’s first major utility deal.
Commenting on the partnership, Giovanni Vattani, head of payment systems at Enel’s Italy market division, said: "We are pleased to offer an enhanced e-payment service to the 60 percent of our Italian customers who prefer settling their utility bills via credit transfer.
Barbara Sacchi, reponsible for e-payments at UniCredit’s global transaction banking, expanded on the system’s security, saying:"With MyBank, retail customers can use the e-banking platform of their bank to pay bills online and to buy at web shops.
"The solution is very convenient and highly secured."
According to the company, customers will be redirected directly to their online banking page, where upon logging in they will be able to access the payments form.
"Besides delivering these immediate benefits, the solution holds a great potential for the future, because it will soon support advanced mobile applications and the creation of direct debit e-mandates," Vattani added.
Since its inception in March 2013, MyBank’s Sepa credit transfer solution has partnered with 50 financial institutions, 48 of which are located in Italy.
Commenting on the future development of UniCredit’s partnership with the e-payments provider, Scacchi added: "Thanks to the many benefits it provides to e-merchants and other e-billers, MyBank has attracted substantial interest from our corporate customers before we have even started promoting it to them.
"We look forward to making MyBank available to many more corporates and their customers over the next few months," she revealed.
