E-commerce giant Amazon is all set to release a mobile-based credit card reader that could go on sale next month.

The ‘Amazon Card Reader’ is said to cost $9.99 and will connect to smartphones to carry out payments.

Further, the company is also looking to develop its own biometric payments solutions, according to leaked inventory document discovered by 9to5Mac.

Amazon, which has 237 million active user accounts, recently launched ‘Amazon Wallet’ that allows users to store and organise gift cards and store loyalty cards.

According to the publication, the Amazon Card Reader is likely to work together with the company’s recently launched wallet.

In recent past, Amazon has been making moves within the payments space, allowing retailers and services like Kickstarter to use Amazon as a payment processor.
